Calming and Relaxing Non-Alcoholic Drink (with Lavender)

For a delicious and healthy mocktail recipe, try this refreshing lavender lemon mocktail. It’s cool, refreshing, tart, and slightly sweet—perfect for winding down after a long day. Lavender is one of the key ingredients, known for promoting stress relief and helping you get the best night’s sleep. The lovely balance of floral and citrus flavors makes it refreshing and a great option if you're cutting back on alcohol or taking part in Dry January.

Why Lavender and Lemon?

I just love how lavender and lemon come together in this drink—they balance each other so perfectly. The floral notes of lavender mix with the fresh tartness of lemon, creating a flavor that feels a little fancy without being over the top. I also love that this recipe skips the overly sweet mixers and instead uses honey and coconut sugar for natural sweetness. It’s such a refreshing change from sugary sodas or ginger ale, and the best part? You can sip on it and still feel great the next day.

Lavender Flower Buds

When picking lavender, go for organic and USDA-certified to ensure it's safe to consume. I found a giant bag that lasts me all year—seriously, such a great value! I use Natures Restore Lavender Buds, which are perfect for making this mocktail. Not only is this lavender ideal for beverages, but it’s also great for other uses, like lavender tea, bath balms, syrups, or even tossing it into your haircare routine or other fun kitchen experiments.

It’s under $10, and it ships quickly, so you’ll be enjoying this refreshing mocktail by the weekend! :)

  • Fresh Fruits: Try combining flavors like blackberry lemon, peach mango, or watermelon lime for refreshing, vibrant flavor notes that take your mocktail to the next level.

  • CBD Drinks: For a calming effect, add a splash of CBD-infused beverage to unwind and relax.

  • Herbal Tea: Lavender, chamomile, or hibiscus infusions bring rich, floral tasting notes that complement the lavender lemon base perfectly.

  • Soda Water: A splash of soda water adds just the right amount of fizz to make this mocktail even more refreshing!

  • Spirit Alternatives: Bax Botanics or Kin Euphorics are fantastic non-alcoholic spirits options that bring sophisticated flavor profiles and functional benefits, adding depth and complexity to your mocktail without the alcohol.

FAQs

  • You can store this mocktail in the fridge for 5–7 days. Make sure to keep it in an airtight container to preserve the fresh taste. It’s perfect for prepping in advance and having a refreshing, ready-to-go drink on hand throughout the week.

  • To add a special touch, garnish your mocktail with fresh herbs like mint or basil. You can also try edible flowers like pansies or violets to complement the lavender flavor. If you’re feeling creative, add fruit slices or citrus zest to brighten up the drink and make it more visually appealing.

    • Fresh fruit juices: Instead of using store-bought fruit juices that are often packed with added sugars, opt for freshly squeezed juices. Orange juice, lime juice, lemon juice, cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, and fresh grapefruit juice are all great options that can add natural sweetness to your mocktail.

    • Infused water: Infusing water with fruits, herbs, or even vegetables can add flavor without any added sugar. Try infusing water with cucumber, mint, or berries for a refreshing twist.

    • Club soda or sparkling water: If you're looking for a bubbly drink without the added sugars, club soda or sparkling water is a great choice. You can mix it with your choice of fresh fruit juices or even add a splash of citrus for a burst of flavor and lower sugar content.

    • Herbal tea: Brew a strong herbal tea, let it cool, and use it as a base for your mocktail. Herbal teas like chamomile, lavender, or hibiscus can add unique flavors and health benefits to your drink without spiking your blood sugar.

    • Homemade simple syrups: Instead of using store-bought syrups that are often high in added sugars, make your own simple syrup at home using healthier sweeteners like honey or maple syrup. You can infuse the syrup with flavors like ginger, cinnamon, or vanilla.

    • Fresh Fruit Skewers: Thread a combination of colorful and seasonal fruits like strawberries, blueberries, and pineapple onto skewers. Place the skewers on the rim of the glass for a vibrant and refreshing touch.

    • Herb Sprigs: Add a pop of green to your mocktail by garnishing it with fresh herb sprigs like mint, basil, or rosemary.

    • Citrus Zest: Use a zester or a small grater to create delicate curls of citrus zest from lemons, limes, or oranges. Sprinkle the zest over the top of the mocktail for a burst of color and tangy aroma.

    • Edible Flowers: Elevate the beauty of your mocktail by garnishing it with edible flowers like pansies, violets, or nasturtiums.

    • Fruit Slices: Slice up fruits like oranges, lemons, or cucumbers and place them along the rim of the glass.

  • Try adding vodka or gin to make this an alcoholic beverage.

This Lavender Lemon Mocktail is one of my favorite non-alcoholic beverages to unwind with. The combination of floral lavender and tart lemon creates a refreshing flavor profile, and the natural sweetness from honey and coconut sugar makes it the real thing—without all the added sugar. Whether you're cutting back on alcohol intake, exploring alcohol alternatives, or just looking for a good option for social situations, this mocktail is perfect. It’s a great way to enjoy something delicious and refreshing without missing out on flavor. Plus, the calming effects of lavender make it a great choice to help you relax and recharge. Feel free to experiment with different flavors and make this your go-to drink for any occasion. Cheers to enjoying a healthy, delicious treat!
