Easy & Quick Cheeseburgers in the Air Fryer

It’s time to rethink the traditional method of making a cheeseburger! This air fryer cheeseburger recipe is quick, easy, and delicious! Not only will it save you lots of cook time, but it also makes deliciously crispy burgers that are juicy and full of flavor. Perfect for burger nights or game days!

Tips for Cooking Air Fryer Cheeseburgers

  • For perfectly evenly cooked burgers, press your thumb into the center of each patty so it doesn’t swell in the center during cooking.

  • Use a 15/85 blend.

  • Use a meat thermometer to make sure the burger's internal temperature is 160F.

  • Don’t overcook the burgers; make sure to check them every 5 minutes when flipping!

  • After cooking the cheeseburgers in the air fryer, when you take them out to rest, pop your buns in there, open face down to toast. Just heat it to 350F for 2 minutes to warm it!

Patty Alternatives

  • Frozen beef patties - Use the same instructions, but add an extra 5 minutes of cooking time!

  • Turkey burger - Seasonings can remain the same; just spray the air fryer with oil prior to cooking, as turkey doesn’t have as much fat as beef.

Cheeseburgers in the Air Fryer Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef 80/20

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Other Ingredients

  • 2 shallots, diced

  • 2 teaspoon avocado oil

  • 1 tomato, sliced for burger topping

  • Pickles, sliced for burger toppings

  • 4 buns, any kind

  • 4 cheese slices

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup mayo

  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

  • 2 tablespoons mustard

  • 2 tablespoons relish

How to Make Cheeseburgers in the Air Fryer

  • Preheat your air fryer to 380F.

  • Dice your shallot. Heat a skillet over medium heat, add 2 teaspoons of avocado oil. Once it’s warm, add your diced shallot into the skillet to cook. Continue stirring continuously for about 7-9 minutes until translucent. Set the shallot aside for the sauce.

  • Form the ground beef into 4 equal-sized patties, about 1/2 inch thick, making a small indent in the middle of the patty with your thumbs. The more you press them down, the better, as they will thicken a bit when cooked.

  • Place the hamburgers in a single layer in your air fryer basket.

  • Cook 380F for 10 minutes, flipping halfway (after 5 minutes).

  • At the end, add a slice of cheese & cook for an additional 1 minute to melt the cheese.

  • While the burgers are cooking, make the sauce by mixing together mayo, ketchup, mustard, and relish until well combined.

  • To assemble the burgers, place the bun on the bottom, add sauce, burger patty, tomato, grilled shallot, lettuce, pickles, and the bun on top. Enjoy warm!

Storage

Store any leftover cheeseburgers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply place the burgers in the air fryer for a few minutes until warmed through.
